High End Digital Capture — An overview

This 1-day work­shop con­sists of an excit­ing overview of Phase One, Leaf, and Has­sel­blad sys­tems, the same medium-format Dig­i­tal Backs used by the best pro­fes­sional fash­ion, com­mer­cial, land­scape, and archi­tec­tural pho­tog­ra­phers around the world. Not all megapix­els are cre­ated equal. Stu­dents wit­ness the true dif­fer­ence between 35mm and medium-format dig­i­tal sen­sors, while clar­i­fy­ing con­cepts like bit depth, develop curves, styles, color spaces, dig­i­tal lens cor­rec­tions, moiré, and more.

The course intro­duces stu­dents to portable and teth­ered shoot­ing, as well as var­i­ous types of cap­tur­ing soft­ware used with dig­i­tal cam­era backs that allow the pho­tog­ra­pher to import, browse, com­pare, adjust, and export the images in a num­ber of file for­mats and pre­sets. pre­req­ui­site: Pho­to­shop I, Photo II: Dig­i­tal, or port­fo­lio review.
